My current top priority project is house related. If you read my other post in the 'small talk' section you know we just bought another place here in Lubbock at the lake (Buffalo Springs Lake). Our place is nestled right up against some bluffs so during heavy rains we get enough of a run-off that our side yard holds about an 1" of water in the grass after the rain stops for about 1/2 a day. So I decided to go about 10-12' up the side of the bluff and cut a water diversion path (channel). I already have a natural run off at the base but that still allows it to get to yard level before the water move slowly away. By cutting the diversion channel up a little ways and then slowly angling it downward across the bluff and towards the back of my property the water run-off never really reaches my yard level. Might not soud like much of a project but I have to do it while disturbing as little natural vegitation as possible.... so I'm doing it all by hand (shovel). The channel is about 16" wide and over 100' long.
