After talking with Michael on the phone for a while tonight, I am deciding to get a small table top CNC mill for myself. I know this is somewhat off topic, but I might be able to offer some sort of Tribal services with it at some point when I get the entire setup going (I'm guessing somewhere around a year from now). I am going to be getting a Taig CNC Mill (info here (http://www.taigtools.com/cmill.html).) Now in order to afford all of this, I am going to be putting up quite a few of my Tribals for sale on this site, and the other site we don't mention here. ;) Anyways, should turn out good and I'll have a nice little CNC setup going on shortly. I'll let you all know how it develops!

Cool beans. Ya keeping the phalanx I hope.

Any ideas ya tossing around right now on custom stuff?

Yep, planning on keeping the Phalanx, Matrix, and maybe 1 or 2 other nice Tribals along with my custom projects that I'm working on. I have about 8 Tribals and an Angel Speed that I need to get together and sell off. That should pay for the mill setup, computer, and a bit of tooling.

I've got tons of ideas in my head for custom stuff, but I honestly have no idea if that will ever become a reality. I think I'm mostly going to be concentrating on body milling type stuff and possibly some other cool things like that, but nothing as far as products... at least I haven't thought about it anyways.

Remember, this is far off from a reality. I'm still in the stages of gathering funds and finalizing ideas on what to get. Let alone after I get it, I have to set it up, learn how to use it, and then test it out, make sure everything works, works great, and then I can start doing work consistently. I imagine this will all start coming together in about a year or so.

If only I would've seen that you'd be selling guns an hour ago, I wouldn't have bought an Addrenaline Imp. :(

sweetness! We have a CNC mill at our shop, but it's really small and I have no idea how to use it...

Is it like the one in the link I posted? I will just be getting the table top version. It has about 9.5" x 5.5" x 6" of travel. Not much, but just enough to do paintball gun bodies and assorted paintball items.

no, it's smaller, and it is incases inside of like a plastic shield thing... I think it's from like the 80's That one looks alot nicer

Yeah, I saw the Taigs up for sale on Ebay, but I think I'd rather buy new than used - especially for how reasonably priced the new ones are. Hopefully next year when I'm in college I'll get a chance to use the nice big CNC mill they have up there. :)

Warped,
make sure when you get the mill you get servo control motors instead if stepper ones. the reason is steppers are told where to move and they move that much and wait for the next command, servo's on the other hand also provide feedback. they get told where to move and when they get there they reply saying they got there, they help over come errors when the motor does not move correct. they will run you extra $$ but are worth it.

Hmm.. I'll have to check with Blue and make sure that I get the servo ones instead of the steppers.

I have 6 CNC machines, all desktop and decent. I don't use them for paintball, however. Personal use mostly; that and 4 are broken :-P

Wow! What models do you have? What kind of products do you produce with them?

Man, that'd be nice to have, but right now, if I bought that thing, I'd have to live in it... and it would have to be able to take me to work as well. *sigh*

I have two emco mills, 3 spectra lights, and one I can't remember. I use mostly my PC MILL 55 and my PC TURN 55. Decent size machines, I use it to make small parts.

Yes! (oh warped, you dont mind milling a spyder body, do you :p)

I've taken 5 classes on CAD in high school. I still have to get the dang thing and get it all set up properly and get it running before I can do anything!

I wanted to learn cad... but after taking that class, never again.

Depending on the program, CAD is relatively easy.
