Well to keep everybody up to date with the thing that's consuming all my money (but I'm not complaining), I thought I'd post another thread about my WRX. Since we last talked, I have added a few small mods.. hehehe.
Titek 3" High-Flow Downpipe
SR*S 3" Catback Exhaust (HKS High-power knockoff)
COBB Heatshield
COBB Accessport V2
So with these goodies I was able to get not only a nice deep rumble out of the 4 banger boxer engine, but a nice increase in torque and horses.
I have the ECU currently running COBB's 93 Octane map, with the turbo pushing 16psi at peak and down to 11psi at redline. What does this mean?
HP - 285
TQ - 340
Now these are the numbers COBB claims as SAE ratings, and I haven't been able to dyno the car yet, no idea if this is at the flywheel or at the wheels, but regardless, it's pretty damn impressive from just an exhaust and ecu reflash. I got an additional 5HP/5TQ after I got back in the south and was able to get ahold of 93 octane (damn you northerners and your 91 octane!)
In the mail is a nice Titek uppipe (for quicker spool) and just ordered some longer urethane exhaust hangers (the 3" exhaust is right up against the underside and knocks on the bottom of the car when I hit bumps :( ) and a nice Kartboy short throw shifter and bushings.
What's next? Well.. I'm thinking a FP20 turbo along with supporting mods. But I have to pay bills so that has to wait... Unless I win the lottery (which would be crazy cuz I don't even play it)
So there you go, the most recent news on my AWD monster of a sedan.
Had a few close calls in it in Missouri... worst state so far.. I swear people don't know how to fucking drive there. Alabama is almost as bad tho, Tennessee doesn't breed good drivers too (I blame it on NASCAR).... hahaha.
Anyways, until next time gents :dancingf:

Lol, well what do you expect.....except for 2-3 times a year, NASCAR fans don't even realize that you can turn right :TooFunny:

Hah, yeah I'd agree with Missouri drivers being pretty terrible.
Stock, what are the HP and TQ numbers from your WRX?
silverbullet669
07-26-2007, 03:08 PM
Those are some pretty decent numbers, although I would believe that just with the few upgrades, they would have to be at the flywheel. Last time I checked, WRXs were in the lower 200s for both torque and hp. If those were the numbers to the ground, then you would be literally spanking stock STIs which are something like 260-270 at the wheels stock (supposed to be like 300/300 at the flywheel)

Ha missouri is one of the best places to drive. Illinois drivers are the worst ive ever encountered! Holy crap GTF out of the way!!

230HP for stock, don't remember what TQ is but higher than that.
Anyways, working around Chattanooga TN these past few days and I was leaving today's job site after checking it out (still doing these damn Bed Bath and Beyonds). So I'm at a green light turning left onto some rinkydink little road going through the mall complex and there's this lady driving some shitty little suv (like an escape or something small) across from me. The light turns green and she doesn't move so I start pulling out into the intersection to turn left then all of a sudden she takes off and starts freaking out thinking I'm going to pull left in front of her. I'm barely rolling out into the intersection and I stop to let he drive past me (going straight) and I see her waving her arms like a maniac... I think about revving real loud as her window is down (the car is pretty quiet at idle but gets real loud and deep as I rev) but decide that I've pissed her off enough and don't want to accknowledge her bitchyness, so I just laugh at her. There was a guy walking across the crosswalk past her and I think he saw her freaking out as well.
All in all I thought it was damn funny, as I was acting completely civil throughout the whole thing. I then proceed back north on 153 to my hotel down a 55mph 4lane divided highway where everybody tries to drive 75.
I swear, sometimes it was easier to drive in Egypt, where nobody knows how to drive (literally) and I was in my nice big heavy ass uparmored M1114.
Oh well.. if some idiot hits me it means new parts for my car hehe. It does get old on those long 10hr trips from home to jobsite or back though.
I need to get an apache.....

I just can't even picture a WRX without seeing a rally car :Nervous:
Not sure which ones they use for the Rally cars I know nothing about Subaru but they do look like some pretty nice cars :2thumbup: I'm the kind of southern redneck who wants a beat up truck with a lift kit :buttrock: or a ricer -hides from all the flaming to come :HeadPhon: -
silverbullet669
07-26-2007, 06:28 PM
Lol Ricers are ok. when they dont look like ghetto fast and the furious cars. I like the mpg I get out of my Integra...its a 90' with a 1.8 and I get close to 25 mpg city, which is soon to increase to 30-35 Im hoping

Nice numbers on the Rexi. Your upgrades sound good :D
A friend of mine has a 91 Integra, the early ones are the only ones i like, besides the True JDM series....something about those newer headlights bug me lol.
Course i drive a Tiburon with the same style headlights, so i dunno.

Yeah I'm not too fond of acura but I do have a thing for integras as long as they aren't trashed out... well and the nsx as well hehe.
I also have a 91 240sx I've been working on, and a 94 Maxima that I have some stuff to fix that I bought off my sister so she could get (another) integra. When I get the maxima driving I'm gonna sell it and find a nice mid 90s rx-7 to fix up.
I'm going to be working all over the country, driving my wrx a lot, so if anybody ever wants to see it, send me a pm with your approx location and I'll let you know when I'm in the area.
One of these days I'm going to build a rally car, can't quiet justify using the wrx for one as of yet... my main transportation and still too new hehe. My brother-in-law says I should use the 240sx but I would rather use an awd car. Oh well... not like I can afford any of it yet anyways.

Take the 240 out for a ride and trash it, then sell it to some poor kid to fix up -cough cough-
silverbullet669
07-27-2007, 01:51 AM
I think the 90-93 Integras look really nice with the whole JDM look. Simple, stock, with a few minor details. All Im going to do to mine cosmetically is a new stock bumper and lip and newer style lights, OEM of course. As far as the 94-01 body style, the JDM Type R Front conversion is one of my favorites. Im all for the JDM look, which to me, seems to present an aggressive car on a subtle level.
The 89-94 240 SX, or the S13 looks really cool too. I had a 90 Hatchback for a while, but then opted for this Integra. The coupe with the S13 front end is awesome too lol. Then again, no one can top the R33 and R43s tho. Those have to be my favorites. MINES R34 FTMFW!!

07-27-2007, 08:23 AM
Haha, the 240 isn't going anywhere for less than $5,000. I've put too much time and money into it as is.
Don't get me started on skylines.... one day when I rob a bank or get rich (whichever happens first) I'm getting one.... lol. I think they're finally bringing it to the US for the MY08 or 09... or at least that's what I read at one point. MINES kick some serious ass.
I like the S13's better than the S14's, but every once in awhile I'll see a reeeally clean S14 in immaculate condition and wish I had one instead haha. I have the fastback style, man I love that car.
I stayed up all night playing Forza 2 :( so I need to get out of my room and drive down to Atlanta now.
silverbullet669
07-27-2007, 12:48 PM
Yea I saw the MINES Skyline with their stage 2 engine response kit install.....OMG. I have never seen a car run through the entire power band so fast in my life. The Driver took a 2nd Gear corner and was at about 3-4k, took him less than 2 seconds to hit redline, and then in 3rd took about 5 seconds to hit redline again. <drools> That car was amazing and made me want to spend the 96k to get a legal Skyline imported to the states :D . Only problem is it will probably be 49 state legal and I live in California.:Mad2:
:abs2:
DeuceX
07-27-2007, 12:54 PM
Haha ouch man... that is the state #1 on my list that I will not live in, because of the whole emissions shit (that and liberals haha).
The skyline is my dream car, above the sti. I'd kill to get one (wonder if killing in the line of duty in the army counts...).
Haha... there's some guy sucking ass so bad on a skateboard in the parking lot across from the hotel I'm staying at. Randomness.....
Anyways, the WRX probably wouldn't pass smog in Cali even with the high-flow cat. I understand the whole trying to lower smog thing, but they really should be concentrating on all these idiots driving suv's with nobody else in them. /rant
Got behind a nice M3 earlier when I went to get some TacoBell, first time I've seen one. I need to start going to some tracks to see some nice cars... I'd love to see a MINES vehicle in person. Until then it's FORZA 2 on the 360 for me.
Well I have until 7pm sunday off so I'm going to be as damn lazy as I can for the rest of the day and weekend.
silverbullet669
07-27-2007, 02:06 PM
Well fortunately there are the 49 state legal cars and then 50 state legal ones, for us here. Although florida is a possible option to move and the whole not smogging thing every two years is a definite pro to doing that lol

5k for a 240 ? Is it mint Lol :NahNah:
no worse than a mint 91 civic hatchback that a guy said 10k for ... so we left :fool2: I seen a 240.. it didn't stick around long.. We never got a chance to look at it :dodgy:
Skylines are awsome I've liked them since Grand Turismo 1 on the PS1 so yeah for a LONG time.... I think they were like (it's been awhile) 40k for the car? and another 40k to get it imported and legal... something like that.. I know it cost around as much as the cars worth just to get it in. Of course you could easily find the car cheaper but it would suck to spend all the extra money to get it in the states.
silverbullet669
07-27-2007, 04:26 PM
I heard the paperwork to get it street legal after it was in the US was about 16K. Motorex was the company I knew that did it, but I think they did shady stuff and got busted for it. I did, however see an R32 GTS, so the 2.5 Single Turbo and no AWD for like 20k at one point. Oh I sooo wanted to get it lol. The cheapest R33 I saw was for about 35-40k, a 600hp one was 50-55k, and never did see a R34. I almost would say screw the Skyline and pickup a usdm 3rd Gen. RX-7 then swap in a Cosmo 20b motor. Heard one of those was putting out aroung 800-880 hp with some amazingly low boost

07-27-2007, 04:28 PM
Lol this has become a bit off topic (sorry guys) so I'll fix that. I would absolutely love to have a WRX and get the gearbox and suspension off of a JDM STI Spec C. <drools yet again in this thread>
DeuceX
07-27-2007, 06:43 PM
Haha don't get me started on the Spec C.....
As for the 240, I have put too much money in it to let it go for cheaper than 5k. Coilovers, clutch, flywheel, rotors, pads, brake lines, engine management, powerlocks and windows kit, speakers, amp, headunit, complete bushing kit, wheels and tires. Soon going to rebuild the engine and put on a GT28RS for quick spool. To hell with the red/blacktop, I'll keep the torque from the 2.4L american engine. So yeah I couldn't get 5k for it, but won't let it go for less than that hahaha.
So yeah... off topic a little but not really, don't worry about it.
Man I never get tired of driving my WRX down the road. I still get surprised when passing someone on the road and look down and I'm already over 90mph... "oh shit need to slow down". For a 25k car with less than 2k worth of mods it's one of the damn best deals in the industry. Still surprised I don't see more of them on the road, but hey, to each his own.
As far as RX-7s go... I saw a damn nice one on craigslist with low miles in great shape, think it still had factory turbo setup, for like 10k. I decided I needed to quit looking them up cuz I felt bad about not being able to afford it haha. I'll probably pick one up for a few grand after I sell off my maxima and get my money back out of it and slowly repair it while the 240sx is torn apart for it's engine rebuild.

nice. are those rims/tires and brakes the stock ones? Also.. did you pull up a little too far? Looks like was raised up on the edge:doh:
nice car make the 240 a drifter and the WRX a Rally car .. :Hello:
DeuceX
07-29-2007, 04:14 PM
Only thing not stock right now is the exhaust, turbo heat shield, and headunit. So yes, the rims/tires and brakes stock. The car sits that high. I don't really plan on lowering it as I don't want to screw up the already great suspension. Sway bars are planned though, along with some brake upgrades.
I honestly don't really give a damn about drifting, I think it's pretty damn stupid. The 240 is just something I've been screwing around with since it handles so well.
8-ball
07-29-2007, 11:23 PM
Lol I think drifting is pretty fun, we had some slicks on my fourwheeler and I would keep that thing sideways when I was in town.
I just love the older tuner cars. I love the old style 350z and 240's, but the most unusual one of all is a car that everyone I know hates... VW Jetta :2thumbup: we had a 93 we was going to fix up as my car and my uncle took off with it before he signed it over to us so we could go get the title... I'm still mad at him for that. It was wrecked when we bought it but all that happened was it broke the front bumper, right fender, and windshield from what looked like someones head went through it:doh: but there was no blood so I doubt it was. The wiring was a mess from electronics being ripped out. It had a Full body kit, a decent wing, 18s with low profile Toyo's (needed new tires) and had a nice exhaust. I used to see it driving around before it was stolen. as for the engine work I didn't really know. I know the car was dropped down a lot. It was stolen and wrecked so we were getting it from a guy who didn't want to mess with it.. the thing that ticked me off the most was the head rests were stolen. that made me more mad than the CD player being gone :buttkick:
DeuceX
07-30-2007, 11:33 AM
Hahaha 18's on a jetta... that's just ridiculous. There's not much reason to go over 17" on most cars besides big brake clearance, but to each his own.
I guess I just have a bad taste in my mouth from meeting some morons who "know everything" and go drifting. That's the bad thing about the tuning community, morons (like the ones who put those ugly ass wings on cars that have 80% bondo on them for the life of the car). Too many idiots who think they know stuff, and idiots who go street racing and end up killing people. /rant.
Ok I'm done for now. I need to go get some lunch...
silverbullet669
07-30-2007, 12:52 PM
Very true. I especially hate it when people think that wings have any performance value for front wheel drive cars, quite ridiculous to me. I will admit that there are alot of retarded people in the tuner world, but there are quite a few in any kinda of class like that. I have met my share of domestic tards too. Lol one ended up racing on a 2 lane road in town and ended up totalling into a tree. After that he got the nicknames of Two-Face and Zipperhead, lmao.
DeuceX
07-30-2007, 04:02 PM
Haha... by "tuner" I mean anybody who works on a vehicle for performance gains, whether it is domestic or import. I personally like working on cars because I like getting my hands dirty and there's a sense of accomplishment when you get done with something and have cuts, burns, and grease all over haha.
Anyways that is more of an off-topic discussion.
I really need to put some money in the bank, but my next upgrades are probably going to be a nice set of cobb sway bars. I eventually want to get some new wheels for track (ok so I can haul ass down shitty texas roads...), been thinking about a set of Enkei RPF1, either in 17 or 18 depending on the requirements of the brakes I decide to get. Damn light forged (17lbs for 18") for a good price, just over 200 ea. Oh well, it's all dreaming until I get my car paid off and have some actual spending money haha.

So now there's a small dent in the rear drivers side door... grrrr. I guess that means I can start rally driving with it now haha.
