Good to hear you're settled in, hopefully everything is calming down for you! :HelloWav:

Andy, I have a user on the ICDO that's been asking me about converting his Angels to work with some 2k7 Chaos boards. Has he contacted you?

I don't believe so. Was he wanting to use the boards with the microswitch attached to the board, or separate?

I am unsure what phenotype of 2k7 Chaos board he has, but he is trying to make them drive the noid on his Angel. I do know that you can just solder an additional switch onto the board if he has a FreeStyle/ProMaster variant. From what I can tell, he has everything working properly, it just doesn't cycle his marker. Noid seems to cycle fine. I do know that you've done this sort of thing before. Were you using a 2k4 chaos board?

The only problems with cycling that I've experienced is trying to use a 2k4 board in and LED. Those solenoids require a lot more juice to cycle correctly than the LCD and later versions. I've been told by Goldie though that the 2k7 boards should be able to handle anything that you can throw at it as far as current draw on the solenoid output. Things for him to check would be the usual suspects like dwell, LPR, snap ring tension, HPR, etc.

The 2k7's I have toyed with don't have the microswitch mounted on the board, rather the microswitch is integrated into the wiring harness just like any other Bushy harness. And then I just use my regular microswitch mounting plate in the frame like I've always done.

Yes, that is what I've suspected. It seems to me that the output of the 2k7 Chaos boards is 5v at or around 200mA. That should be enough to drive his marker as they use the newer 5v noids WDP has been using.

The voltage regulator on the Freestyle/Chaos (which is the board that Goldie is selling---Freestyle just gets a switch soldered to the board but is the same board) is rated at 800ma, and the switch that fires the noid is rated at 1.6 amps. All of this switching is done at 5V.

I haven't done any testing at these current to see if voltage drops off or anything. I currently don't have a board to test. If some one wants to send me a board I would be happy to put a resistive load to do some testing on current.

It's funny you mention that... I just bought a 2k7 Chaos board. On another note, it seems that I have been defaulted to the position of head admin at the ICDO after Darryl's resignation. *Sigh*

What happened with Darryl?
Have you heard from Goldie lately?

Darryl got fed up with doing a thankless job. Can't blame him really. Our user base is pretty good and 100,000,000 times better than the average PbN user, but we have our fair share of people who have a hard time following rules.

Talked to Goldie, he seems fine as of late. He has supported my bid to add some new staff to the ICDO.
