What if i choped off the back part of my bolt? It would be :
-lighter
-look like Edwins
-look cooler i guess..
What do ya'll think?

You can cut the shit out of the Aluminum ones!!!
The stock delrin have a long threaded SS shaft.

you'd have to make it so the pull pin still stays in, and you'd have to make it shorter somehow. that steel rod holds in a detent thingy...

The aluminum one can just be cut with a hacksaw, filed and smoothed the edges with sand paper.
The Delrin one requires too much work, so just buy a new one.

yep you could do it, but it wouldn't be worth it... unless you're really really bored...

Something like that would do. Just be sure you don't cut too close to the bolt pin hole and cut into the retaining detent. That would be bad!

is that a black annoed aluminum one? mines delrin and it's shaped different...

It is worth it, when you have a bent aluminum bolt!!!

See you were not reading the post correctly!!!
Yes it is anoed aluminum and it is constructed differently than the delrin ones, so it is a easy mod to shorten it!!!

Yes im bored. I'l probably do it today.

Mines not bent, but that would suck

Does this mean mines rare, or just uncommon? the more i compare my tribal to others, the more i feel all cool inside, thinking that im holding a rare piece of history, handed down/traded for a at least 5 years!

Aluminum Bolts are common. They delrin ones came out with the "newer" tribals. The rarest bolt that I once had (sent to PMICocker---never saw it since) was a Delrin/Aluminum bolt. I only knew of 2 of those bolts!!!

I took the REALLY heavy screw and detent out of my stock Tribal delrin bolt. The bolt pin is a really tight fit so it stays in no problem. I had some number of the weight of the different parts back on ***.
Warped told me when he sent my gun back that in his opinion I should put the heavy metal parts back in. I assume this is so the bolt/hammer ratio isn't messed up
I was wondering if someone (perhaps Warped himself ;) ) could let me know why I should use the heavier bolt when Edwins is lighter and works fine.

I have a delrin/alum bolt in one of my tribals at the moment

Fishy post a pic of the bolt.

I have a customer's Tribal here that has a delrin/aluminum bolt much like the one you sent off, Edwin.
I think Edwin's bolts work out alright because they're shaped after the aluminum bolts which had a better flow path than the delrin ones. Some of the stock delrin bolts were machined with a very turbulant air path.
The heavier weight of the bolt provides for a little more momentum to hold the valve open. I think the weights have something to do with velocity/efficiency and if not set properly, they can adversly affect either.

so your saying that if you put in a lighter bolt, one such as Edwins, you would need to possibly re-chrono? maybe even adjust pressure?

There's a difference though. Edwin's bolts seemed to be machined correctly to allow for a lighter weight AND a higher velocity/efficiency, etc. However with the stock delrin bolts, if you make them lighter, they seem to perform worse. I have not experimented around with chopping the back off of a stock aluminum bolt however.

o i see, well.. i'll probably do it tomorrow and show you guys.. i'l probably do it w/ a bandsaw..i'll take pics

if you have the opportunity chrono before and after cutting the bolt to see if thewre is any major fluctuation in the FPS

In that case i'll have to wait untill the weekend to chrono it. im guessing its shooting at around 268fps(just from memory).. i'll see if i can get to the park Saturday before i cut it up, then i'll go back later saturday or sunday.. chrono it again.. we'll see

The velocity will probably go up...

OK, thanks. Now I just need to find the metal parts.
I know that bolt flow really does make a difference. When I had an Impulse I put a ND bolt in there and the velosity jumped by at least 10fps.
