After a request on another forum, I had to post this over here as well. Cyborgs are close enough to Tribals anyways.

I made the solid model for the Cyborg first and styled the Tribal body I did after it. This time things turned out a bit smoother. The body is still a bit plain and could use some windows around the bolt tube area, but for now, I think it will do just fine. Onto the pics!

After roughing:

Roughing step-over helping out the soon to come 3/16" ball end mill:

And it begins!

After the "roughing" pass with the BEM:

After a bath:

Showing the surface finish...

This time I roughed at 6500 RPM, 3/16" 2 flute HSS ball end mill step-over of 25 thou at 20 IPM leaving 5 thou on the surface for the finishing pass to take up. Finished with the same tool at 10k RPM and 28 IPM with a 10 thou step-over. There ZERO seam between passes. Its soooo smooth. Probably a bit overkill, but I wanted to see exactly how smooth I could get it. In the future 15 thou or so step-over would be plenty good.

And finally, mostly assembled:

After this its getting gloss black all around. Should be quite the dandy little thing.

PS: I want a Cyborg now.

How many setups/tools to get to that point?

2 setups (left, right), 4 tools (roughing end mill, finishing end mill, ball end mill, long length end mill to clean up the back of the bolt tube). Ooops, 5 tools, 1/4" stubby to cut the small flats up by the barrel threads.

Tribal bodies in the background.

Thanks for the cross post, Warped, that's some beautiful work!

And I hear ya, those 'borgs are some nice looking markers, and with MacDev regs on 'em, there's no need to go looking for immediate replacements, like damn near everyone else's electroflingers.

I may have to get you to do this once I get both my RM's back.

That's a nice 'Borg Shifty. Now, the question is, have you gotten out and played with any of these sweet ass markers you've been picking up of late (like that B2K4 from Bob)?

I just can't understand why players these days are willing to drop $1K+ for a new marker to give up a perfectly functional marker (like that 'Borg) and recoup only $250 of their damn near $2K investment in it. Now, I can't understand it, but I sure do like the idea of capitalizing on it. *evil grin* Good grab, Shifty!

I'd love to mill up that 'Borg shifty, right after I get all of these other Tribal projects out of the way. People have been waiting way too long for them to get done.
