I picked up a PM5 recently that is 'eye-less' thx to the previous owner. Apparently during tinkering he assembled the maker pinching the cheap ribbon cable used for the eyes. Rather than fix the prob he just gutted the damaged harness (including the eyes & connector) and shot it blind the rest of the season. And instead of saving said damaged harness he threw it away. Well for some strange reason Proto chose to use some weird-ass ribbon cable connector, way different from DYE or any normal aftermarket supplier of paintball upgrades. I only now know all of this after purchasing the wrong set of eyes (for a DM5/6) *lol*... Some things are interchangable between DM & PM models, some are not. So I searched long and hard and was able to locate one fn dealer that carried the correct set of eyes.... 49 freekin' bux!!!*gag* I figured screw that I'm gunna make these Virure Lazer eyes for the DM5 work on my PM5. But to do that I need to change the female connector on the board to something more universal or 'plug' like. Anyone know where I can shop for connections like this???

Hmm... I vaguely remember somewhere in Haveblue's site a catalog of ODD connectors from various electric component suppliers...

That should be of some help, I would think.

Can you take some pics of what style plug it is you need? I have a bunch lying around here that might do the trick.

Thx for the offer Andy, I may take you up on it if what I ordered doesn't work.
Below is a pic of what I ordered from All Electrics Corp, found it on the link flyweightnate posted(thx). I plan on removing the eye "ribbon" connector at the top of the board and replacing it with the one from AEC....

I'm gunna try and put that connector above in place of the one pictured below (circled in red)

Hey buddy,
that is a standard laptop ribbon connector, you find them on lots of laptops connecting the mouse/touchpad what does the other end need to look like? I might have something.

I wish I had the end of that ribbon cable, it would make things quite easy then. From what I've seen it kinda looks like translucent 3 wire ultra flat ribon cable, at the end that incerts into the clip on the board the wires appear to be exposed on one side of the cable.....

I'm pretty sure that PM5 and PM6 eyes are the same and the Evil Minion 6 is the same as the PM6. So on the Evil site they have eyes for $11.50.

I tried posting to this, but my work explorer kept crashing.

That type of a ribbon is called a FPC Flex Printed Circuit....You can get some from Digikey, but they rarely come "over the counter" Number pf circuits. You will propably find 4, 6, 8 etc circuits (ie number of conductors). You will also need to figure out your pitch (ie distance between centers of each pin), typically this is 1mm, but others are common such as .5mm

Go to digikey.com and search for 1mm FPC and some should pop up. I can help more if you need it.

These are generic interconnect type FPC, but the one for that board was probably a true Flex Printed Circuit made to attach directly to the connect and the eye were probably soldered directly to the FPC....the digikey alternate will just be a jumper and you will have to rig up the eye side if you want to try these.
