Been a busy freaking year on this end. My first turns 5 months old in a couple of days, she and the wife went to visit my sis-in-law out in Virginia this morning via a 6am flight (my alarm went off at 3:30 so we could make it on time... *YAWN!!!*), and the military has just kept me hopping. Got a 3-day drill this weekend and trying to get everything ready as it's going to be a grade A, number 1 Charlie Foxtrot. I actually played paintball in January AND February, but since that day in February, I've been paint dry. My gear, on the other hand, has sat sealed in my gear bag, as I have had exactly zero time to spend cleaning and maintaining it like I should (a large reason I shoot Tippmanns). I stop by and check here almost every day, but usually don't have much to say, sorry.
How's everyone else doing? Anything exciting going on in your lives?

By Charlie Foxtrot I assume you mean Cluster Fuck. Sounds like my Brother. He's got a three month long series of excercises before deployment to Afghanistan. Unfortunately for him he is infantry, and not even Mechanized Infantry. Those poor bastards dig trenches and sleep in rained out holes and walk everywhere they are needed. If they are lucky they get a truck to take them where they need to go.

That's the one, the one and only.

He won't be walking all that much in Afghan, he'll either be choppered in and out of his AO (area of operations), or be temporarily mechanized and ride in up-armored vehicles. Not a lot of cover in the Middle East, and as we're not really fighting a war but a bunch of skirmishes and performing route security mostly, the Army needs us as mobile as possible. Hope he (and all my other brothers and sisters in green, tan, and 2 shades of blue) make it back okay.

Well they'll be in good company... it looks like my son-in-law and his predator unit will be flying the friendly skies over their heads.

Sorry guys... I haven't been around much but I've been kinda busy.
My father-in-law is a diabetic and hasn't been doing real well the last 6 weeks or so. So between driving up to their place or the hospital it's left little time for stuff like this. In addition I'm job hunting and house hunting.... yep, another move. The move will be good as it will put me in a better position for the job market. Being 20 miles south of the city puts me at a real disadvantage with employers. They see 20 miles like being in the next state. And the new house location will be closer to a better defensive position.... *lol* Yeah, kinda a joke now but we'll see. Especially if this news I got from DZ is 100% on. Check this out....
One of the guys on my team that was able to make it to the game ( I will not name him nor his unit) is active duty military stationed at Fort Leonard wood. His particular unit is infantry combat designated which he signed up and trained for. A few weeks ago the Base commander called his unit to formation and addressed them. The reason for this was to inform them that their unit designation was being changed and effective immediately. They are now a response unit for domestic, biological and chemical threats. Not a bad thing you might think but............ This Better Scare The Hell Out Of You!!!!!!! His unit no longer reports to or receives their orders from any General from within the military. His unit now reports and receives its orders " solely from the head director of FEMA".
A lot of you guys here in the Tribe know DZ so you know the information is more fact than fiction. Kinda wish I was still living in Texas....

I am not sure why Military units working for FEMA is a big issue. Can someone enlighten me?

At least for me it's worrisome because, as was shown during and well after the Katrina disaster, FEMA showed us how freaking incompetent they are. Like a bunch of monkeys trying to fuck a football. It's sad, really.

Here's one reason.....
One of the jobs FEMA was responsible for was to put Hurricane victims who's homes were destroyed into trailers/mobile homes. FEMA was allocated 1000's of them to hand out. Not only didn't they NOT do a good job of it but many that were given out were causing residents to become ill. I believe is was something that had to do with an insulation material.
Now they want to give those same ASSwads control over a military group that is armed with whatever is made available to them. Yeah.... I'm a little concerned.

Apparently you are dissolutioned by the idea that the U.S. Military is not as incompetent as FEMA. Hey let's spray agent orange all over our own troops to see how they behave. Wheeeee!

Well...... The Military didn't run that piss poor excuse for a war. If it had the damn thing would have been over in 2-3 years. The Politicians, Media and Public outcry dictated the entire mess. Seriously, I know from personal experience just how fucked up our military can be but I can say with complete confidence that no commanding officer came up with the idea of engaging the enemy with "limited weapons". That clusterfuck idea was the brain fart of politicians and liberals because the fucking media got the bright idea of covering the Nam war as night time entertainment. Mr & Mrs john q public didn't like the fact that bodies looked like hamburger after a couple 50 cal rounds pass thru. They didn't like junior crying because he just saw some poor schmuck's skull and gray matter hit the camera lens. Yeah... war and death ain't pretty, go figure. The smart money would have been to frag every SOB from the media.... that would have solved a lot of those problems.
