View Full Version : Question about ASP Buffers

Hey guys.
I installed an ASP buffer kit a couple of days ago. I purposefully didn't red-loctite down the ram because I can't reassemble it fully yet anyway (Warped has my trigger)
ANYWAY...
Even with the smallest ram buffer, the bolt still peeks into the feed tube. Will I risk permanent damage if I test the gun without loc-tite on the hammer?
ALSO...
Are there specific positive and negative leads for the solenoid? Will I burn it out if I plug it in the wrong way? (oops I forgot to mark which side was which :embarras: )

Actually, depending on how far in the bolt is, you might be okay. Timmy's are actually supposed to be set with like a small portion of the bolt in the feedtube to prevent roll-backs, so the eyes see the paint all the time. I suppose the same could be applied to tribals. But I'll see what andy has to say about this.

Same thing on Autocockers. Its suposed to be exposed about 1/16 or so.. maybe an 1/8th

1/16 was the number that came to mind, just didn't want to be wrong about it. 1/8 sounds a bit big lol.

Yeah, its fine if the bolt peaks into the breech a little bit - it just prevents roll-back more. A 1/16" is about the most you want to go. Try dropping a ball in the feedneck to ensure that they feed with almost no resistance. If you put the bolt too far forward, sometimes a ball won't feed all the time. If you just want to test your ram without it being loctited thats fine. Just be sure when you're done setting everything up, use some red loctite to attach the hammer to the shaft.

tested and it feeds fine. Thanks guys.
any answers to the solenoid lead question?

Oh, they're not polarized, so it doesn't need to be plugged in any sort of way - just as long as it clicks. :)

The only thing about testing the marker without loctiting the hammer is that it will unscrew pretty quick. So check it fairly often... every 10-20 shots.

You could put a drop of blue loctite on there if you are just testing. Just let it sit 30 min to cure first.

thanks very much for the advice guys!
Now that I look at it, though, I don't think that I'll need to test it without loc-tite. The balls feed just fine, and there's only a smidge of the bolt peeking into the feed neck. Like 1/16th give or take. I'm not really worried about it, so I think I'll risk it.
