Here are the pics. I'm still not done with all the milling on the back half of the body (and the front as far as thats concerned). I'm waiting on my CNC mill to get here so I can do some more contouring to the body.

Drew up some CAD renderings of what I'd like to do to it when the CNC gets here. Here's my idea for some simplistic, yet smooth milling.

cool, there'n not gonna be a back plate right? juts leave the ram exposed? what kind of electronics are you using...

Why did you machine the lower tube that far back? As it would seem neeter if it was even with the top, right?
Is that a threaded plug in the front for a Autococker LPR?
warpedmephisto
04-21-2005, 08:52 AM
I had to sit it back that far for the adapter to fit right. Yep, that plug is 1/8"-27 npt threaded for a cocker lpr. The ram will just be exposed in the back and I will be using a Chaos board for electronics. I could go more in depth with the milling and make it look awesome, but again time = money and this is just a learning experience project.

I am using warlord, but I will convert it to a side switch format.
warpedmephisto
04-21-2005, 01:37 PM
You might have to reposition some components on the board, or use a very tiny slide switch as there's not a whole lot of room where the sideswitch like on a Mephisto frame would be. Or had you planned on positioning the switch elsewhere?
Seawolf

yea....more time = more of my money...... lol
oddly..this started off as a budget project

Well I do have to make the holes for the switch so I can locate them anywhere I need, but I definately need to figure out how to fit two switches as I want an eye on/off switch toooo.

Is that just a modified AOC part???

new milling....... sex

Yeah, that was a model that I did last night of it. I think that will prove to be the best looking version to do for simplicity's sake. Now I just have to get my mill in and start working on stuff!

I really like the new milling.

I really like the milling as well...
Would you be able to replicate this at will? How about modifying the design so as not to remove the aoc/lpr area?
warpedmephisto
05-03-2005, 09:42 PM
That could also be done as well. I will be doing this on my mill, when it arrives, so I can make precise cuts every time. For the AOC area on a stock body, I could just cut off the radius section below the trigger and make it a 45 degree chamfer as well just like the ram tube. I could also do this on a non-mini body with just cutting off the site rail and milling it flat, then giving it a chamfer on both sides. Then you could go as far as to do the pump slot (I know its a cocker term, but thats what it looks like) with a chamfer as well instead of a ball channel.

And the cost? :Shades:

05-04-2005, 02:29 PM
I have no clue right now. Once I get my mill in, I'll see actually how much time exactly it would take to do one that is stock. Anno would probably be a must for the milling as the raw aluminum likes to gall after its been out in the air and moisture for a while. I'd like to come up with some fancier milling before I start offering milling services.

I like the bolt area detail. It's a little like the Karta ULE bodies for Mags.

Thats after a long day of playing on the mill. But the upside is, I've got all the code written for it now!

is it just me, or are the right and left sides different? Still alot of work to do?
warpedmephisto
07-21-2005, 11:35 PM
The aren't different. The silver spots are where I ran a test run actually on the surface instead of below the surface and it just took the ano off. Good thing I did the test run too because the program had a bug and went off in the opposite direction.

That's absolutely fucking gorgeous. Beautiful anno, too.
Excellent gun seawolf - definitely in the top echelon of custom tribals.
WELL DONE!
The only minor issue to me is the open end of the grip frame...
What's up with that?

Jesus fucking christ dude that's a nice gun. I sure hope my project turns out as well as yours has.
This almost makes me want to pick up a cheap mephisto for Andy to use for version 2...
I flat out DEMAND video when it's fully assembled!
And hurry up about it! :Wink10:
Who did the anno?

www.pbcustomz.com did that ano - and in a very reasonable time considering he got married that week and was on his honeymoon and still managed a 2 week turn around time. They do awesome work for a great price!
I'm still figuring out the best method for the rear frame screw as a button head screw still sticks out and doesn't look exactly right. But that's little stuff. Hopefully this weekend will buy me some time to start real assembly and testing. Don't know though - college has got me bogged down. I'm now starting to CNC machine parts for the Formula SAE team here on campus.

And yes... v2 will be much better. ;)

Well, its all back together and up and running now. I have a few more things to tweak out of it tomorrow, and then I'll try to get a video up. I really really need a Halo though to show how amazingly fast this thing is. In semi with raking, it hits the cap at 20 almost immediately. I'm finding myself having a harder time each day coming to realize that I'm eventually going to box this thing up and send it away. :(

Shipped out this afternoon. I would have made a video of it but I lack a Halo and the Revy just doesn't do justice for the capability of the board.
