Hi all...

Ram Question..

I am installing a ram bumper.

The Screw on the back of the ram. What purpose does it serve? If I screw it snugly down the Hammer will not go all the way back to the bumper. If I back it out a little it seems loose and does the oring in the back pop out of place?

I can't seem to find this info.

Thanks in advance.

For my twister's ram assembly it can act as a sort of adjustable ram screw, for lining the bolt correctly in the breech.

One thing I've noticed with that little screw(on my BBT actually, no difference though) is that if it's on really tight, it will not screw into the lower tube of the gun(meaning the ram/2prong thread thingy do NOT align- maybe it's just mine though). But if I simply unscrew it a little, like you said, it goes right in, no problems.

As for the buffer, maybe it's not helping your ram. If it's not wanting to work, dont use it. Simple as that.... i'm sure Edwin or soemone has a much more elaborate answer, but thats my thoughts. :)

A pic might help, as Toxic Toys made 3 or 4 different type of rams.

Is that screw a Allen screw or a slotted screw????

It is a slotted, screw. I'll take a picture tonight.

It seems as though when the screw is turned in snugly, the Ram will collide with it, not allowing the ram bumper to cushion the hammer. But loosened a turn or too it is fine. Strangley, the screw has a hole drilled in it on the reverse side ( Ram side).

I'll get a pic!

Thanks

Kev

Thats for the snap ring adjustment. There should be a small o-ring that sits under the brass screw (down inside the cap). The back of your ram shaft should have a little shaft with a groove on it sticking out the back. If the back of the ram shaft is just flat then the brass screw serves no purpose - just to block air from venting out the back of the ram. See what the ram shaft looks like and then we can help you from there.

OK i finally got pics of my Ram for anyone who can help.

There is an o-ring under the cap.

I still have to check my ram shaft...

Thanks in advance.

Can you remove the end cap?

push the hammer all the way back and see if you can see a little nub sticking into the area that screw comes from, there should also be an oring in there.

if so it is a snapring type ram like an angel.

if it is you adjust them like and angel, they make for a more consistant ram.

Does anyone know the correct size oring for the snap ring ram???

I have had several snap ring rams that work but some just don't seem to grab.

You have to play around with that brass adjustment screw... that happens to be green loctited in. I don't know the size offhand though. :(
