View Full Version : Something I've been wondering about Edwin's eye board

How exactly does the EE (Edwin Eye ;) ) board work?

I know some of the other boards out there have eye logic which lets the gun fire after it sees something or only while the beam is broken ect.

Does the EE board have "logic" or is it more of a KISS type thing?

I'm looking forward to getting my gun back from Warped with the EE board and eyes so I was just curious.

I can answer that question.

My board uses simple Logic gates to test the presence of a ball. If there is a ball present , then the gate allows the signal to the noid to pass. As for engineering it is very simple, but for someone who just wants to make one it is difficult. There are a lot more things involved than just detecting a ball. There is power management, component selection, on/off ability, BB eyes and R eyes, and LEDs that can be integrated to the board.

There is a better way of doing it and that is with a Microcontroller, but I felt that if I was going to code a micro to do this job, I might as well just make a new board for Tribals.

Does that answer your question?

If you need any other Electronic questions answered, I should be able to help. I might be little more open, now that it is for the benifit of our group.

Cool. I hope this board will be a great place for us all to do new/inovative projects without a lot of outside interfearance. I think we've got the right group of people for it. Kind of like AO back in the day.
